SOIS Physical Education Overview

 

Purpose of Study

 

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

 

Aims

 

The Physical Education curriculum at SOIS aims to ensure that all pupils:

·         develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities

·         are physically active for sustained periods of time

·         engage in competitive sports and activities

·         lead healthy, active lives.

Curriculum and Assessment – Year 7

 

* In PE each unit is assessed using a specifically designed rubric for the activity, each unit (with the exception of fitness testing) contributes an equal amount to the end of semester grade.

 

Semester 1 – 50% of the end of year grade.

 

Fitness Testing as designated by the Education Bureau will take place at some point in the first semester.

 

Module 1 – Fitness Testing                    

 

Module 2 – Volleyball

 

Module 3 – Badminton

 

Semester 2 – 50% of the end of year grade.

 

Module 4 – Basketball             

 

Module 5 – Table Tennis

 

Module 6 – Invasion Games, Circuit Training & Dodgeball
